Update on Grants for 2008
Since the beginning of January 2008 we have so far paid out
grants of some £34,000.
Due to a reduction in our income in 2007 and the fact that we
received only a small amount of legacies in 2007, the total amount of funds
available for grants in 2008 (£40,000) is less than that which was available in
2007 (£52,000).
We are now only able to consider applications for 2008 grants
if they refer to individual disadvantaged children/young people who reside in
the City of Westminster (London), East Sussex, and the West Midlands.
Regrettable, we cannot now consider any more applications this
year from other areas of the United Kingdom.
Applications for the Year 2009 should not be submitted until
after 1 January 2009 by which time new Guidance Notes re Applications for
Grants will apply which will be posted on this web-site towards the end of
2008.

Applications for Group-related
grants in 2008
On the basis of the
income that has been received so far in 2007, the Council of the Fund has
determined that we will, as in 2007, be unable to provide any group-related
grants for holidays, activities, etc. in the Year 2008.
Despite efforts made to increase the Fund’s income in 2007, so far that has not
proved to be the case, and, as in the previous year, only a nominal amount of
legacies have been received in 2007.
In the light of this situation, the Council have determined that the Fund will,
in 2008, only respond to applications relating to individual disadvantaged
children/young people.

We need more funds in order to maintain our work
We hope that the information provided on
this website will have helped you to appreciate in broad terms the work that is
undertaken by us in helping quite a number of
disadvantaged children and young people to get away for a little while from what
is otherwise a mundane and restricted environment. But we can carry on doing it
only if we are provided with funds. Almost all the
funds that we are able to give out in the form of grants comes to us in the
previous year from grant-making trusts, companies, firms and private individuals
who give us their support.
But we need a lot more such support! We cannot expect that
each year our funds will be boosted by generous legacies!
Please consider making a generous donation. Have a look at the
Donations page of this website, and give us the
benefit of your practical support.
Many thanks, in anticipation of your donation.

Use your Self Assessment tax repayment to help us maintain our work
The Inland Revenue have announced that, from April 2004,
people who complete a Self Assessment Tax Return for the year to 5 April 2004
(and thereafter) will be able to nominate a charity to receive all or part of
any tax repayment that may be due to them.
The Inland Revenue publish on their own
website
a list of the charities participating in the new scheme from which donors can
choose which charity they wish to benefit. The list will show the name and
address of the participating charities, together with a unique identification
code for each charity. Donors taking advantage of the scheme will need to enter
the identification code in their Self Assessment Tax Return.
We shall be most grateful for every contribution to our cause
through this route. Please be sure to use our unique identification code - HAK43YG
- when completing your Self Assessment Tax Return.
The new scheme has the following advantages:
